The tax lien auction system in the City of Poughkeepsie disproportionately impacts racial and ethnic minority communities, the elderly, and the infirm—“It is a system that benefits private investors at the cost of the public interest”. The Benjamin Center’s report, Going … Going … Gone., critically analyzes the impact of the tax lien auction system has on the city, and offers policy alternatives to address the issue.
